About Delmy:

Delmy arrived in Los Angeles in 1991 from El Salvador. She’s a devoted single mother of three sons and a five-year-old granddaughter, Delmy’s proud family includes a son in the United States Army, a daughter in her final year of pursuing a nursing degree, and a youngest son who is a professional DJ.

Having heard stories of harassment from colleagues, Delmy herself experienced workplace harassment a few years ago, prompting her to report the incident. A staunch advocate for vulnerable individuals, Delmy stands against both physical and psychological mistreatment. She personally endured sexual abuse in her home country during adolescence.

With the support of Centro Ya Basta, Delmy seizes the opportunity to learn and assist colleagues in the janitorial industry, actively working to put an end to sexual harassment and offering help to anyone in need. The organization has allowed her to deepen her understanding of the complexities surrounding the issue of sexual abuse.

Delmy Rivas completed a 40-hour training course to become a certified professional instructor in the prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abusive behavior in the cleaning industry.
